A day after setting a new record for COVID-19 cases, the Orange County school district recorded more than double that number, with 238 new student cases documented Monday.

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - More middle schools in Horry County will now be heading back to five days of face-to-face learning.
In an email to parents on Thursday, Horry County Schools said brick-and-mortar programs at Aynor Middle School, Conway Middle School, Loris Middle School and Whittemore Park Middle School will all return to five days of face-to-face instruction beginning March 4.
Those currently in the district’s virtual program will not be affected by the change.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A pair of Horry County middle schools will have their schedules altered ahead of the upcoming holiday break.
Horry County Schools announced Friday that Conway Middle Schoo and North Myrtle Beach Middle School students in Groups A and G of the hybrid model will move to fully-virtual learning on Monday and Tuesday. District spokesperson Lisa Bourcier said parents and students at both schools have been notified of the change.
According to the note, students are to follow their virtual day schedule they have on Fridays.
Horry County Schools did not release a statement, nor post on social media about the school shutdowns until after this report was released. It still has not been released on social media.
According to the HCS COVID-19 dashboard, there are 16 staffers in quarantine at Conway Middle and 11 at North Myrtle Middle.
In total, the district has a 165 active cases of COVID-19 â the most this school year â and 282 staffers in quarantine. The district has chosen not to report students in quarantine.
