Accessibility high on agenda at BASSINTHEGRASS

NT Government People of all abilities will be able to enjoy an outstanding experience at this year’s BASSINTHEGRASS thanks to a range of new accessibility measures introduced to the Territory’s iconic music festival that will take place at Mindil Beach on 15 May. Festival organiser Northern Territory Major Events Company has engaged Carpentaria Disability Services to promote a more inclusive environment for all festivalgoers. This year music fans with special needs will have access to two elevated platforms, each boasting plenty of shade and providing direct views of the closest stage. There will also be accessible toilets at each end of the venue, and Pro Floor (portable event flooring) will be installed to minimise uneven surfaces across the event site.

BASSINTHEGRASS teams up with DanceWize for epic event

NT Government BASSINTHEGRASS 2021 is set to welcome its biggest crowd ever with 14,000 music fans heading to Mindil Beach on 15 May to enjoy one of the country’s first large-scale music festivals since restrictions on social gatherings began to ease nationwide. The Northern Territory Major Events Company will partner with NT Health and the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre to support a number of harm-reduction strategies and help music fans have a premium experience at BASSINTHEGRASS. One of these strategies is to work with peer-based harm reduction group DanceWize, with additional support from Event Champions across multiple St John NT sites.
