Ambulance Council approves new two-year contract Wed, 03/17/2021 - 10:34am Bob Fenske New deal will begin July 1; council members also approve budget and rental space By:  Bob Fenske The Chickasaw Ambulance Council unanimously approved a two-year contract with the county s current ambulance provider during a meeting Tuesday evening in which council members also approved a budget and a rental agreement to house two ambulances. Tuesday s meeting got off to a rocky start when Bassett Mayor Jim Ashley and Chickasaw Ambulance Service owner Jeremy McGrath argued over Ashley s contention that McGrath owned a part-time service, but cooler heads soon prevailed. I want to thank Jeremy for being willing to work with us, said Supervisor Jacob Hackman, who represents the county on the Ambulance Council, and I d like to thank this council for keeping it civil and working to get to an agreement. This is a move forward for the citizens of Chickasaw County.

manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN One of two men arrested in spring 2020 for a burglary that resulted in the theft of firearms is looking at up to five years in state prison. Timothy C. Belden, 32, of 121 N. Second St., Northville, pleaded guilty Feb. 16 in Fulton County Court before Judge Polly A. Hoye to one felony count of third-degree burglary, as part of a plea arrangement. Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but Belden is expected to receive 2 1/2 to five years in state prison as a second felony offender. He also faces possible restitution, and an order or protection would be granted for his victim.
