HOT SPRINGS - As we come into your communities, we need people to help us get folks vaccinated, Madison County Health Director Tammy Cody said during a radio appearance May 4.
That s exactly what happened May 12, as the Spring Creek community held the first community-organized vaccine clinic in the county.
At the clinic, at Spring Creek Community Center, 22 people received either Johnson & Johnson or Moderna vaccines. The community is in the process of establishing a date for the second clinic, according to the event s organizer, Mike Tuziw.
Tuziw, who has volunteered at many of the county health department s vaccine clinics held at the county fairgrounds, contacted Cody about holding the event in Spring Creek.

MARSHALL - Madison County Health Director Tammy Cody dropped a bomb during an interview on a local radio program: Cody had spent time in the hospital in the fall battling COVID-19.
During a May 5 live interview with Liz Gullum on WART s Community Conversation with Ann and Liz, Cody discussed the county s COVID-19 statistics and detailed the process of conducting contact tracing with the Madison High girls soccer team after a player tested positive for the virus on April 28.
But maybe the most shocking news revealed during the program was that Cody herself battled COVID-19 in the fall, and even spent some time in the hospital during her fight.
