Owatonna senior wrestler Abe Stockwell, in addition to the team bench, was pumped after pinning his opponent to pull the Huskies into a 32-32 tie with Watertown-Mayer Friday night. After several minutes however, the mode among the Huskies dipped as the Royals earned the win on criteria. It took a discussion at the scorer s table to determine the winner. Each team won seven matches. Each team had three pins. Watertown-Mayer had a tech fall win and OHS did not, giving the Royals the win and leaving the Huskies with a split on the night. Owatonna beat Mankato West 70-12 to open the night s tri.

As the state high school winter sports season begins to grind into action, a number of proven local wrestlers find themselves ranked about the state s elite. Time will tell if they get a full state meet opportunity to challenge the rest for a spot on the medal stand. Six Owatonna wrestlers are in the top ten of the latest Guillotine rankings. Number of homicides in Terrebonne and Lafourche down in 2020

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office handled four homicides in 2020, which two fewer than the previous year. The agency investigated six in 2018.   There were no homicides in the city limits of Thibodaux this year, which is one of the few bright spots of 2020, Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said.  “Although last year we reported an increased number of homicides from one in 2018 to four in 2019, our officers continued to strive daily to make our community, the city of Thibodaux a safe place to live,” Zeringue said. “As we welcomed 2020, we set a number one goal to continue to build a partnership with our community to keep our city a safe place to live and retire. With a joint effort between the community and the police, we were able to eliminate homicides all together thus far this year. Houma murder suspect arrested during car stop in Thibodaux, police say Staff A suspect wanted for murder in Terrebonne Parish was recently arrested during a car stop in Thibodaux, police said.  Landon Johnson, 23, of Napoleonville, is facing pending murder charges in Terrebonne but was arrested Tuesday in Thibodaux on charges of driving without a license, improper turning and possession of firearm by a convicted felon, the Thibodaux Police Department said.  Police were patrolling around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Midland Drive and Bobby Street when they saw a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria fail to use turn signal, authorities said. After initiating a traffic stop, police identified the driver as Johnson and learned he had an active warrant in Terrebonne.

(WVUE) - Houma Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a Thibodaux man in November. Police arrested 23-year-old Landon Johnson. Johnson is accused of shooting and killing 36-year-old Jason Livas inside of the Main Event Center in the 1100 block of East Street. On November 21, officers were called to the Main Event Center around 12:20 a.m. for a man shot at the location. When they arrived at the scene, they found Livas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
