Thirteen Brainerd Public Schools teachers earned tenure beginning in the 2021-22 school year.
“This is always extremely exciting for me,” Superintendent Laine Larson said during the school board meeting Monday, May 24, before board members approved the tenure.
“To gain tenure is really a huge accomplishment in a professional career of a teacher, and I want to commend all of these people,” Larson added. “And we’ll send letters on behalf of the board of education to say, ‘Well done, congratulations and thank you for your commitment to children and making a difference in the lives of our future.’”

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A teenager has died as a result of a wreck that happened on March 23.
Kaitlyn Byrum, 17, was pronounced deceased Wednesday at a Tyler hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash that occurred a week ago.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated two separate two-vehicle crashes on SH 103 at FM 1277 March 23.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 5:45 p.m., a 2016 Kia passenger car was traveling north on FM 1277 and failed to yield right of way from the stop sign and drove into the path of 2008 GMC SUV that was traveling east on SH 103.
Family members of Kaitlyn Byrum have confirmed that the 17-year-old Colmesneil girl has died from her injuries suffered in a Tuesday, March 23rd accident in San Augustine County. Byrum died early Wednesday evening in a Tyler Hospital.
Byrum was a passenger in a car driven by 18-year-old Lacy Reynolds. The Texas Department of Public Safety says that Reynolds pulled out in front of an SUV which struck the driver side of the car. Reynolds died at the scene and Byrum had been hospitalized ever since.
The two were reportedly headed to Chireno to watch a high school baseball game when the crash occurred.
