2nd person dies as a result of March crash in San Augustine Fatal wreck generic (Source: WALB) By Stephanie Frazier | April 1, 2021 at 5:17 PM CDT - Updated April 1 at 5:18 PM SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A teenager has died as a result of a wreck that happened on March 23. Kaitlyn Byrum, 17, was pronounced deceased Wednesday at a Tyler hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash that occurred a week ago. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated two separate two-vehicle crashes on SH 103 at FM 1277 March 23. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 5:45 p.m., a 2016 Kia passenger car was traveling north on FM 1277 and failed to yield right of way from the stop sign and drove into the path of 2008 GMC SUV that was traveling east on SH 103.

Kaitlyn Byrum has died from injuries in a Tue, Mar 23rd accident

Family members of Kaitlyn Byrum have confirmed that the 17-year-old Colmesneil girl has died from her injuries suffered in a Tuesday, March 23rd accident in San Augustine County. Byrum died early Wednesday evening in a Tyler Hospital. Byrum was a passenger in a car driven by 18-year-old Lacy Reynolds. The Texas Department of Public Safety says that Reynolds pulled out in front of an SUV which struck the driver side of the car. Reynolds died at the scene and Byrum had been hospitalized ever since. The two were reportedly headed to Chireno to watch a high school baseball game when the crash occurred.

Amboy woman dies in Wabash County crash

February 1, 2021 Friday at approximately 12:56 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash at 6428 West Wabash County Road 1100 South, in which an Amboy woman died. The preliminary crash investigation revealed that Kaitlyn Byrum, 21, of Amboy, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on County Road 1100 South near 6428 West. According to a press release, for an undetermined reason, the Malibu traveled off the north side of the road and down into a ditch. The Malibu flipped, coming to rest on its top. Reports state Byrum was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to the press release, the crash is still under investigation. Preliminary evidence indicates neither speed nor use of intoxicants was a contributing factor.  Police say Byrum was wearing a seat belt at the time.
