WINCHESTER – Deputies rescued an owl Thursday after it flew into a man’s open truck window while he was driving on Lakeview Road.
The man called around 9:30 p.m. and said an owl flew into his truck in the town of Winchester, according to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the man was driving west on Lakeview Road with his window partially open when the owl hit the top of the door frame, flew into the open window, hit the driver’s neck and landed in the back seat.
Officials said the driver wasn’t injured, but the owl had an injury to its left wing. Deputies named the bird “Owlfred,” and he was taken to Wildlife of Wisconsin for treatment.

OSCEOLA – A 54-year-old Eden man was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday after a motorcycle crash in Fond du Lac County.
Deputies responded around 6 p.m. to the crash on Vista Drive near Lakeview Road in the town of Osceola, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the motorcycle was going north on Vista Drive when it mishandled a curve and went off the road. The driver was thrown form the motorcycle and wasn’t wearing a helmet.
