Ambassador Gilsenan presents credentials in Lesotho

On 19 April 2021 H.E. Ambassador Fionnuala Gilsenan presented her credentials to His Majesty, King Letsie III of Lesotho, officially commencing her term as Ambassador of Ireland to the Kingdom of Lesotho.
Ireland and Lesotho have enjoyed excellent relations over the course of 40 years, from the establishment of Ireland’s development cooperation programme in Lesotho in 1975, Ireland was pleased to support the work of the Government of Lesotho in providing quality health and education services.
Now, the relationship between Ireland and Lesotho has evolved bringing with it new opportunities for Ireland and Lesotho to cooperate in a variety of ways.
NACOSEC must be realistic

THE Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) last week accused the National Covid-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) of discriminating sports by crafting impractical Covid-19 regulations as a prerequisite for the resumption of sports activities.
This follows Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro’s announcement last week that it was now safe for the return of sports after the lifting of the Covid-19-induced suspension in January 2021.
However, Majoro said for sports to return, teams and associations must ensure that athletes are kept in restricted camps until the end of their respective seasons and competitions.
When I learnt of the directive, I thought it was absurd because most teams and associations do not have the capacity to fund such camps.

ROAD cycling rider Teboho Khantši produced a stunning performance on Sunday when he won the Federation of Cycling Lesotho (FCL) tournament in the elite men’s category on Sunday.
Khantši completed the 80km race in 2:07:57 a result which saw him securing the second place in overall standings of the tournament in Mazenod, Maseru. The overall winner was Kabelo Makatile, who is also the junior champion. Makatile recorded 1:21:35 in the 40km race.
The weekend event was Khantši’s first to mark his return to competitive cycling after suffering serious injuries which side lined him for a year.

Cardinal Khoarai left this world on Saturday 17
th April 2021 around 13h00 at Mazenod. He died at the age of 91. His burial will be announced later. However, he will be laid to rest in the diocese of Mohale’s Hoek where he served as a bishop for 36 years.
May he rest in eternal happiness in the mercy of God.
