A line-up of local talent has been announced for a series of shows set to be streamed live online from the Theatre Royal.
The theatre’s first ever digital season, RE-CHARGE, was launched last week with an ambitious dance-theatre-film performance streamed live by one of its longest-standing national partners, Rambert.
The season is set to continue with a five-part series of Live from the Royal shows, starting on April 15, made up of an entirely Norwich and Norfolk line-up.
The Rojas Quartet will perform at RE-CHARGE.
“What is so special about a festival? he asks. There s something about the moment when a city or region comes alive, and that expectant feeling of gathering and experiencing something different together.”
Mr Brine took his post as Norfolk & Norwich Festival director in 2018, which means that much of his time in charge has been dominated by pandemic planning. This year’s flexible festival builds on his experiences from last May, as he was forced to rapidly reimagine the programme.
With its scheduled performances unable to go ahead during lockdown, the festival quickly adapted one of its 2020 shows: Hunt and Darton’s Radio Local. The duo of artists turned what was originally going to be a day-long project in the streets of Norwich into something totally different – a daily broadcast throughout the usual festival period, chatting to the performers whose shows had been cancelled, and bringing together local people who were isolated.

Murphy and O Connor in Line for League Bows at Sheffield Wednesday? Friday, 19th Feb 2010 13:34
Goalkeeper Brian Murphy and left-back Shane O’Connor could be in line for Town league debuts as the Blues travel to Sheffield Wednesday looking to climb out of the bottom three. Murphy could take over from Arran Lee-Barrett, who was at fault for two of the goals at Peterborough in the week, while O’Connor has impressed in the reserves recently in the problem left-back position.
Manager Roy Keane says he wasn’t surprised to see his side drop back into the relegation zone after Wednesday’s fixtures saw Reading win at Crystal Palace: “I knew if we didn’t win Tuesday night that we’d be back in the bottom three as I felt the other teams were going to win their games and that’s how it’s panned out.
