MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - On the final weekend of Black History Month, groups in Montgomery held a celebration of culture Saturday afternoon.
Organizers held a Black history celebration at the historic Nixon-Times Community Garden on Emerson Street.
Those in attendance commemorated the lives of E-D Nixon and Lucille Times.
Organizers held live paintings and allowed some to plant in the garden. There were also performances by dances from Alabama State University.

According to a release from Caitlin Lawrence, public information officer for the City of Panama City, “The Legacy of Rosa Parks” exhibit examines the story of Parks, who like the many other African Americans in her community of Montgomery, Alabama decided the time for change was long overdue.
