Well over half of all Lewes residents are women…. we must have a seat on the city council!
Carolyn Jones has been my friend and “boss” of our Historic Lewes Farmers Market team of Tentations for over 10 years. While she corrals and herds our posse of now very efficient volunteers, she has simultaneously fostered a “family” with a shared purpose. Carolyn understands the value of listening, inclusivity, and opening her heart and mind to all of us before she takes action and decisively moves forward.
Since moving to Lewes, she has shared her vast work experiences and her service to others with our Lewes neighbors by volunteering for city committees, HLFM, mentoring kids through golf, and so many other ways.

Khalil Saliba and Carolyn Jones are community-oriented with no agenda other than doing what’s right for all the residents of Lewes. With a fresh and open approach, both will focus on solutions and do the right thing.
On the other hand, Mr. Morgan has not been effective in trying to protect Lewes from overdevelopment as described in an April 23 letter to the editor - all the projects mentioned were approved, and there are plenty more on the way through proposed annexations and new developments. The Jones farm was purchased by the City of Lewes, Sussex County and Lewes BPW.

Councilman Rob Morgan, candidate for re-election to Lewes City Council, has earned our continuing support.
On recent issues before the council, Rob has been the sole voice of reason. For example, Rob has made clear his opposition to the development of the Fourth Street Forest (land under city, not county, jurisdiction, and occasionally under water), and the skyrocketing police budget (cost of souped-up automobiles and additional personnel). With his election and the election of others of like mind, we may be able to keep our small historic city from becoming the “down-town” center of a vast bedroom community.

As longtime Lewes homeowners and concerned citizens for the future of Lewes, we wholeheartedly recommend you vote for Khalil Saliba for Lewes City Council on May 8. Since we’ve known Khalil, we have found him to have exhibited a thoughtful and commonsense approach to do what’s best for all of Lewes.
Khalil is innovative - we love his idea for an entrepreneurial center that will potentially ignite business startups in local industries like hospitality, agriculture, healthcare (Beebe) and marine science (UD). This center could also help existing businesses expand. Perhaps initially, the center could focus on the most immediate concern for local businesses - a worker shortage.
