Gertrude B. Shapiro (nee Berkman), a long-time resident of Stamford, CT, who was born in Oconto, Wisconsin, passed away in her sleep on Saturday, January 30th just 12 days after the death of her husband of 74 years, Marvin L. Shapiro. She is survived by her 3 children, Susan, Barbara and Jonathan ( Jody ) (fiancé Annette), as well as two granddaughters, Jennifer (Michael) and Casie (Josh) and four great grandchildren, Madison, Everly, Scout and Ellis, all of whom she loved very much. She is also survived by a sister, Jane Feld of Syracuse, NY. Subscribe Mrs. Shapiro was the second youngest of eight children born to her mother, Lena Anna and her father Levi Joshua Berkman and was pre-deceased by her six other brothers and sisters. Mrs. Shapiro grew up in Syracuse, NY with her many brothers and sisters and attended Syracuse University, although she married her husband, Marvin, before graduating.
