A buzzer-beating layup sank Prairie du Chien girls basketball’s hopes of reaching State this season, as Lake Mills advanced to the sectional finals 57-56 Thursday night.
The teams traded the lead in the final minute, with Allison Allbee’s putback layup giving PDC a one-point lead with 15 seconds.
Lake Mills then went down the length of the floor and Vivian Guerrero scored the go-ahead layup with just a few ticks to go. Lily Krahn’s last second-heave bounced high off the backboard, giving the L-Cats the win.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)–The Blugolds stay perfect on the season, squeaking by a tough Prairie du Chien team 50-48. The Blackhawks trailed by as much as 10 in the second half, until a late run sparked by Lily Krahn brought them back within 2. But at that point Macy Donarski hit two key layups to get enough distance, and secure.
