From staff reports
YWCA Mahoning County will benefit from a national donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
Scott announced recently she has made more than $4 billion in donations to charitable groups across the country.
Several groups in the region also received donations, including the Goodwill organization that is the parent of a store in Alliance store.
“Our hopes are fed by others,” philanthropist MacKenzie Scott wrote in a blog post that catalogs donations to 384 organizations over the past four months.
YWCA Mahoning Valley has offices in Warren and Youngstown.
Scott’s donation to YWCA is unrestricted, and it is the most substantial gift YWCA Mahoning Valley has ever received from an individual donor, the agency said in a release Thursday.
