President-elect Biden echoed his promise of 100 million vaccinations in 100 days, plus plans for treatment research and PPE manufacturing.

President-elect Joe Biden’s plan comes at a time when the nation needs all the help it can get fighting the coronavirus. More than 4,200 people in the United States died of COVID this past Tuesday, a new daily record high.
The president-elect’s plan includes a national vaccination program, setting up community vaccination sites nationwide, scaling up testing and tracing, investing in high-quality treatments, providing paid sick leave to contain spread of the virus, and addressing health disparities.
His proposal suggests investing $20 billion in a national vaccination program. Right now, much of the vaccine rollout has been left to the states, which have struggled to get vaccines into arms at a faster pace because they don’t have enough money or people.

Johnson & Johnson’s one-dose coronavirus vaccine is safe and seems to cause an immune response in both young and elderly volunteers.The vaccine works differently than the two emergency-approved vaccines being shot into arms now. It uses a common cold virus called an adenovirus, and it basically splices in the genetic material before the protein from the coronavirus. So it s a vaccine platform, but uses another virus to deliver the spike protein to the, to the body, Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security Senior Scholar Dr. Amesh Adalja told Newsy.

As if the current surges weren’t bad enough, some are worried about the impact two variants mutations in the coronavirus could have.
This is a raging inferno across many parts of the world still, Dr. Ben Singer, a critical care specialist at Northwestern Medical Center, said.
Across the country, doctors like Ben Singer are fighting fatigue as more and more Covid patients come in.
First, there’s the UK variant-B117 we’ve heard a lot about in recent weeks. So far, health officials have documented more than 70 cases in 11 states. It’s not more deadly, but it is more contagious.
