HOUSTON - Shoppers are feeling sticker shock at the grocery store. Food and meat prices have been rising as inflation and shipping delays are affecting many industries.
Before you hit the store this weekend, we asked the experts for some of the secrets to saving.
The biggest advice from grocers is to be open to change. Whether it s changing to a different brand or product that s on sale. Changing the day you shop Wednesday is the day most grocers roll out weekly specials, or consider changing where you shop, like switching to discount grocery stores.

The company announced the closures via an Instagram post. It reads in part: This Sunday, May 16, we ll be ceasing operations at our current locations and are looking to relocate in the near future to continue to serve our Houston family. We re incredibly appreciative of all the support that you ve shown us and hope that we ve contributed a small amount of happiness to your days.

Nick Wong has been promoted to executive chef of UB Preserv.
With new restaurants on the way, Underbelly Hospitality announced on Tuesday some major changes to its internal structure. Namely, chef/owner Chris Shepherd has shifted from the executive chef role at his restaurants, though he will consult with each chef on his menu. The company is growing, and this has been the plan all along,â Shepherd said in a press release. My job now is to support the next generation of restaurant leaders. Each of these people have shown integrity, compassion, skill and empathy and have worked through so many challenges this year. I can t wait to see what they ll accomplish next.

Brighter Bites, a nonprofit organization that delivers fresh fruits, vegetables and nutrition education resources directly into families’ hands, hosted a virtual fundraising event Get Smart in the Kitchen earlier this month.
The event featured Marcia Smart, developer and chef of Smart in the Kitchen, who prepared three simple and nutritious meals using fresh ingredients that can be found in Brighter Bites’ produce boxes. Also engaged on screen were Brighter Bites’ Founder and Board Chair Lisa Helfman, Brighter Bites’ Board Member and President of H-E-B Food/Drug Scott McClelland, and
