STEM camp offered at BCMS for incoming students

SUMMIT Soon-to-be middle schoolers in Boyd County spent the week diving head first into STEM learning. Boyd County Middle School was the site for the district’s STEM Innovations camp for fifth-graders in the district that will transition to middle school in the fall. The focus of the camp was to provide interactive and hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering and math. The students at the camp are getting a head start on learning and an opportunity to close any learning gaps from the pandemic year. Beyond the knowledge base, Boyd County teachers and administrators want to offer opportunities for the students to be together and build relationships after not being together for so long.

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 4/7/2021 4:31:32 PM Local schools are shifting to a full-time in-person schedule after Governor Chris Sununu ordered last week that all schools in the state must provide parents the option to be in school five days a week by April 19. The Mascenic Regional School District and the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District both have grade levels still operating on a hybrid schedule with at least one remote learning day scheduled per week. Both will be eliminating their remote day on April 19, in compliance with Sununu’s order. Other area districts have already implemented a full-time in-person option, either in response to the governor’s order or as part of established reopening plans.

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Wiley, Pressman, take up School Board seats

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript The Jaffrey-Rindge School Board welcomes two new members after contested races in both towns. Lisa Wiley of Rindge came out on top after a write-in campaign where she matched against fellow write-in candidate Shawn Marsh, after no one signed up to fill the seat of outgoing board member Heidi Graff. Both newcomers to the School Board contest, both candidates made a strong showing, with Wiley pulling ahead 168 to Marsh’s 120 votes. Wiley, currently a media specialist in the Monadnock School District, was also previously an employee of the Jaffrey-Rindge district. She said when she saw the seat was going to be empty, she decided it was a good opportunity to become involved as a School Board member.
