The Jaffrey-Rindge School Board welcomes two new members after contested races in both towns.
Lisa Wiley of Rindge came out on top after a write-in campaign where she matched against fellow write-in candidate Shawn Marsh, after no one signed up to fill the seat of outgoing board member Heidi Graff.
Both newcomers to the School Board contest, both candidates made a strong showing, with Wiley pulling ahead 168 to Marsh’s 120 votes.
Wiley, currently a media specialist in the Monadnock School District, was also previously an employee of the Jaffrey-Rindge district.
She said when she saw the seat was going to be empty, she decided it was a good opportunity to become involved as a School Board member.

There is a three-way race for the empty Jaffrey School Board seat this March.
Bonnie Mitchell, Eva Torontali and Christine Pressman have all filed to vie for the seat left vacant by outgoing board member Laurel McKenzie.
Mitchell said while this is her first attempt at a School Board run, her other municipal and state governing experience would be an asset she’d bring to the table. Mitchell is a former member of the Jaffrey Select Board, Supervisor of the checklist, and a three-term member of the state House of Representatives.
“It’s an interesting time in our town’s history,” Mitchell said. “Since there’s been so much upheaval, I think it’s a good time to review everything.”
