The University of California Cooperative Extension and its community partners have received nearly $500,000 from the state Department of Food and Agriculture to expand farm-to-school projects.
The CDFA Office of Farm to Fork s 2021 California Farm to School Incubator Grant Program has awarded $8.496 million in grants to 60 farm-to-school projects throughout the state, including a pair of UC Cooperative Extension projects.
Farm-to-school programs are far from just a California thing, however. For instance, Montana schools projects will be highlighted at the Montana Farm to School Summit in August.

There are plenty of ways to say thank you greeting cards, baked goods, a simple handshake but Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. opted for beer. A recent addition to their year-round lineup is called Dankful IPA, and it’s all about hops and gratitude. On the 12-ounce can, below the hand-drawn letters of “Dankful,” a wavy ribbon declares “Generously Hoppy.”
That was always their plan: brew a West Coast-style IPA packed with seven different kinds of hops for notes of pine and tropical fruit. CHICO, Calif., April 26, 2021 /CSRwire/ Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. today announced its third round of beneficiaries as part of its commitment to donate at least $1 Million, over the course of one year starting in August 2020, to non-profits making an impact during the COVID-19 pandemic.
