The decision was intimated in an official letter by Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare after the Indian Olympic President Narinder Batra had earlier in the day requested the government to exempt returnees from the Tokyo Games to produce RT-PCR negative report before boarding their flights.

NEW DELHI: The overall usage of masks has seen a drastic decline even as community mobility has increased significantly with some areas even witnessing resumption of activities touching pre-Covid level, health officials said and cautioned complacency can result in loss of gains in the fight against Covid-19. “Analysis shows a projected decline in the use of face masks as we resume activities. We should incorporate the use of facemasks in our lives as a new normal,” health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal said. Agarwal said community mobility data shows there has been a rise in mobility in the country in comparison to May 20 of this year when most of the country was under lockdown. “The Covid-19 pandemic is still amidst us,” he added.
