The man who allegedly murdered mother-of-three Kelly Wilkinson could not appear in person as his case was mentioned in court on Friday because he was still severely injured from burns.
The lawyer for Brian Earl Johnston, Ms Wilkinson’s former partner, said the accused remained in prison in a “very severe” condition and as a result “he can barely talk”.

The shocking allegation comes as police confirmed Ms Wilkinson died from horrific burns. Police claim estranged husband Brian Earl Johnston poured petrol on the 27-year-old and set her alight at her Arundel property on April 20.

Ex-US Marine Brian Johnston appeared to be on a deadly mission when he arrived at the former family home around 6am last Tuesday morning.
Knives, duct tape, rope, an army camouflage duffel bag and a jerry can were allegedly found by police at the scene in the Gold Coast suburb of Arundel - suggesting frightening preparations before he allegedly killed and set his former partner Kelly Wilkinson alight while their three children were present.
The items were reportedly found in the backyard beside Ms Wilkinson s burnt body, while one of three knives he was allegedly carrying was also found nearby.

The man accused of killing 27-year-old Gold Coast mother-of-three Kelly Wilkinson has been remanded in custody, with the case against him adjourned to June.
Police charged Brian Earl Johnston, 34, with murder, contravention of a domestic violence order and breach of bail conditions on Tuesday night, after a homicide investigation was launched following the discovery of Ms Wilkinsonâs body at an Arundel home.
Kelly Wilkinsonâs ex-partner has been charged with her murder.
Her burnt body was found about 6.40am in the backyard of a Spikes Court home following a neighbourâs report of a disturbance.
