ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Monday kicked off a major drive against 195 illegal petrol retail outlets in three provinces on the first day of launching of anti-smuggling operations.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has given a deadline of four weeks to the Customs Department and other law enforcement agencies to take action against 2,094 illegal petrol retail outlets in three provinces and seized smuggling routes of petroleum products at the border stations across Balochistan.
Masses reject opposition’s negative politics, says Buzdar

LAHORE : Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the people have totally rejected the opposition’s negative politics of rallies and public gatherings.
In a statement issued here Saturday, he said the opposition will never tender resignations from the assemblies as the PDM was divided on this issue.
The opposition was insulting democratic values by not giving respect to the people’s mandate.
Usman Buzdar said the rejected elements were doing criticism for the sake of criticism just to gain political millage.
The government has taken practical measures for the welfare and betterment of the people as Pakistan has got an honest and sincere leader like Prime Minister Imran Khan.
HED Bans Dozens of Colleges From Offering BS (Hons) Degrees
The Higher Education Department of Punjab has stopped 27 of 29 surveyed colleges from offering BS (Hons) degree programs.
In what is being termed a colossal step to curb shortcomings in Pakistan’s educational standards, the decision was made over malpractice and lack of infrastructure.

The inspection team comprising the Directorate of Colleges (Lahore Division) inspected a select pool of private colleges that offered BS (Hons) courses. Only 2 institutions fulfilled requirements as per higher education standards.
In principle, the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) is the final authority that approves the issuance of BS (Hons) degrees. After a detailed inspection, the team ordered 27 colleges to remove the underlying curriculum and devise a concrete plan to address the missing infrastructural needs.

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sealed several buildings over unauthorised commercialisation and demolished illegal structures in private housing societies in different areas of the metropolis.
On direction of LDA Director General (DG) Ahmad Aziz Tarar, the officials of the Town Planning Wing V conducted an operation on Defence Road, Raiwind Road, private housing colonies Sultan Courts, Sultan Town and Westwood Colony.
The LDA officials sealed three buildings in Chinar Courts over illegal commercialisation.
The authority also sealed a private college and girls’ hostel for the same reason. The LDA staff sealed another tile store and offices established on plot no 1-15.

A tussle between the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and foreign contractors has turned many areas of the provincial metropolis into garbage dumps.
The situation has developed as the contractual term of the Turkish contractors is about to end and the government has indicated that it will not renew their contract.
