Stock the Bar Raffle to Benefit the Elderly in Acadiana If you want to do something fun and help the elderly in our community at the same time, then you need to take part in the Stock the Bar Raffle. The Stock the Bar raffle will benefit the Lafayette Council on Aging and all proceeds will go directly to services for elderly members of our community. Sean Gallup, Getty Images Lafayette Council on Aging services include Meals on Wheels, caregiver support, transportation to critical medical appointments, housekeeping for the terminally ill, community activities, and wellness checks. Stock the Bar raffle is April 8th at 6:30 PM at Legends in Scott, located at 108 Apollo Road. The Grand Prize is over 40 bottles of premium spirits and everything you need to STOCK YOUR BAR. Second prize is a local liquor selection. Third prize is a wine selection. This is a tax deductible donation.

A number of musicians turned out today to raise funds for cancer treatments for Patricia “Tisha” Childress, wife of KBON 101.1 Radio personality, Hoss Childress. The open-air concert and lunch service happened in the courtyard of The Grouse Room in Downtown Lafayette. The show was sponsored by Lafayette Roofing & General Contractors, and adhered to current COVID-19 safety guidelines. The line-up included Marc Broussard, Anthony Dopsie, Cedric Watson, Ray Boudreaux, Roddie Romero, and special guests Sarah Russo, Sharon Thomas, and brothers Lane Mack and Billy Mack.

Lafayette Council on Aging helps prepare Acadiana seniors for cold weather Lafayette Council on Aging prepared to assist seniors amid cold weather and last updated 2021-02-12 00:10:07-05 Cold weather is on the way to Acadiana over the next few days, and area organizations are working to protect those most vulnerable and in need. The Lafayette Council on Aging is urging Acadiana seniors to be prepared for the frigid temperatures. Executive Director Kathy Boudreaux says that seniors should check to make sure heaters are in good working condition, look at seals around their doors, and contact the Council on Aging if they are in need. Boudreaux adds the organization has extra blankets and heaters, and anyone who needs one should contact them.
