A federal lawsuit against the city of Rushville and one of its police officers claims a 2020 traffic stop and subsequent Tasering constituted harassment and excessive force.Evgen Prozhyrko | Getty Images
A Rushville man Tasered after a traffic stop last year an action police said was necessary because he was belligerent and would not comply wants a federal court jury to consider his case.
The Feb. 29, 2020, incident drew a backlash on social media. An investigation by police determined Rushville Police officer Nathan Rauch was “acting in the interest of the safety of himself … and bystanders,” when he stopped and subsequently used a Taser on Levi Kessel of Littleton.
