Public Notices: Temporary road closures in Rhos on Sea and Colwyn Bay this May

In a public notice, featured in this week s Pioneer, notice is given that Conwy County Borough Council intend not less than seven days from May 24 to make an order, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle to proceed in that length of Church Road, Rhos On Sea, from the junction of Llandudno Road to the junction of Bryn Eglwys. The notice added: The order is necessary to facilitate works by Welsh Water, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times. The alternative route will be via Llandudno Road and Marlborough Drive and vice versa and will be signposted accordingly.

60-year-old marathon man runs and cycles 100km along Colwyn Bay promenade

A 60-YEAR-OLD “marathon man” has covered more than 100km by walking and cycling along Colwyn Bay promenade. Kevin Sutton, from Rhos-on-Sea, took on his own version in support of the Captain Tom 100 Challenge within five days since last Friday. The campaign urges members of the public to carry out a fundraiser related to the figure 100 – the same number of times that Sir Captain Tom Moore lapped his garden with a Zimmer frame. Mr Sutton, who would have taken part in his 10th London Marathon last year, hopes to raise awareness and £100 for Tenovus Cancer Care, which provides advice, support and activities such as Sing With Us choirs for people diagnosed with cancer in Wales. He has previously run nine London Marathons, six of which were for the charity.
