RIP Mary Anita DeWitt | Newport Buzz

Mary Anita DeWitt, fondly called Anita, passed away at home on May 26, 2021 with the aroma of lavender, soft music and her loving family surrounding her on her ultimate journey. A lifelong resident of Newport, RI; Anita was born on March 26, 1936 to Mary (Antone-Weston) Brookins and Ernest B. Weston; both deceased. Brothers Kenneth Black and Edward Weston survive Anita. Preceded her in death is her sister Charlotte Weston Smith and her brother Michael Black. She is also survived by her dear sister Valerie Lee with whom she had an extraordinary close relationship. Anita is survived by her five children Gail DeWitt, Fred DeWitt, Terri (DeWitt) Lawrence, Ernest DeWitt and Ronald DeWitt, daughters-in-law Wanda DeWitt and PJ DeWitt, and her bonus daughter Laurie Allan. A delightfully proud and fun grandmother to her seven grandchildren who fondly called her Grandma or Two Shoes; they all will continue to love her dearly. SPS to have vaccinated, non-vaccinated seating at graduation ceremonies

SPS to have vaccinated, non-vaccinated seating at graduation ceremonies May 25, 2021 3:44 PM Matthew Kincanon Updated: SPOKANE, Wash. With graduation being in-person this year, Spokane Public Schools will have both vaccinated and non-vaccinated seating for class of 2021 ceremonies at the Riverfront Park Pavilion. Due to COVID restrictions, Spokane Public Schools (SPS) said seating will be limited where each graduate will receive two general seating wristbands for guests to attend the ceremony. The ceremonies will take place between Monday, June 7 and Sunday, June 13. The Governor’s office and the state Department of Health (DOH) are allowing for a fully vaccinated seating area as well. Graduates with family members who are fully vaccinated may exchange their two general seating wristbands for up to four wristbands for the fully vaccinated seating area.

Spokane Public Schools To Name Three New Middle Schools

She is one of several people the school is considering naming a middle school after. On Wednesday the Spokane Public School Board will choose names for three new middle schools. The School Board will choose between the names of several civil rights icons, historical figures and community leaders. The names were chosen out of nearly 1,500 submissions, according to Spokane Public Schools documents. The options for the new Northeast middle school are Beacon Pines, Denny Yasuhara and Frances Scott.

Newport County vaccination rates: Partially, fully vaccinated residents

Newport Daily News Tiverton trails only Woonsocket as the least partially vaccinated community in Rhode Island, according to the latest figures from the state Department of Health. Eligible residents in Tiverton have been partially vaccinated at a rate of 44.2%, slightly better than Woonsocket’s rate of 40%. Pawtucket (45.9%), Providence (46.0%) and Burillville (46.7%) round out the bottom five, and Newport, which for a time had been in that lowest group, now has the eighth-lowest rate at 48.9%. Tiverton is third from the bottom in fully vaccinated residents with a rate of 37.4%. Only Woonsocket (31.9%) and Providence (37.3%) have lower rates. Newport has the seventh-lowest rate at 40.5%.
