Ram Guha is an honourable man and a robust intellectual. That he combines an interest in cricket with perspectives of history makes him endearing to thinking persons. So when he hands down a political CV of the Congress leadership it cannot just be brushed aside. People like Ram Guha should be supporting the liberal alternative to the incumbent party in power.

The first Indian woman to become chief justice of a high court Justice Leila Seth, who passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, donated organs before death.
Justice Seth’s younger son Shantum Seth revealed that there will not funeral as she had pledged to donate her organs. She died of a cardiac seizure in the night (Friday), at 10:28 pm. My brother Vikram, sister and our other family members are here, he said.

The Wire, historian Ramachandra Guha spelt out in clear detail why he believes the Gandhi family is weakening the Congress and strengthening the Narendra Modi government.
He says the continuation of the three Gandhis â Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka â is enabling not just the consolidation, but also the strengthening of the Narendra Modi regime. On the other hand, their immediate departure will create an opening for a more credible opposition leader, not necessarily from within the Congress but, perhaps, from the wider opposition.
