SOPAC Has A Season Of Comedy In Store For You newjerseystage.com - get the latest breaking news, showbiz & celebrity photos, sport news & rumours, viral videos and top stories from newjerseystage.com Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday newspapers.
The intrigue begins with the arrival by mail of a special package a few days before your ticketed performance. You are instructed NOT to open it until you are at the show, when the host will tell you what to do with the contents.
The Conjurors Club is an immersive virtual experience in which the audience gets to see their fellow patrons on the zoom screen, try their hand at sleight of hand, and have a close-up view of the tricks and illusions as the magicians ply their trade live. It may be the best opportunity you could ever have to catch how they do it, but here s the one spoiler in my review: don t count on it.
CAMBRIDGE One of the key requirements for being admitted into “The Conjurors’ Club” from ticket-buying to a group swearing-in with club pins is a vow of secrecy about exactly what you’ve seen. So no spoilers here.
It would be impossible, anyway, to be too specific about what takes place in this 80-minute live, interactive magic/theater show on Zoom. In trick after trick, four magicians will make you question what just happened? even as you peer ever closer at your computer screen. The sleight-of-hand maneuvers seem simply impossible and the mind-reading stunts are truly mind-blowing.
At least that was the case at Sunday’s matinee performance, where “The Conjurors’ Club” host Geoff Kanick and three other magicians arrived one at a time in our small-group break-out rooms to dazzle with up-close illusions. Be prepared to be involved as information that audience members supply is worked into the live trickery to create one-of-a-kind experiences.

In fashioning their live, interactive, online magic show, âThe Conjurorsâ Club,â creators Vinny DePonto and Geoff Kanick wanted to foster the up-close intimacy and tactile connectivity of pre-pandemic, in-person theater. Moreover, while the magicians in the show may be performing across the digital divide, theyâre not relying on special effects or techno wizardry to bring their illusions to life.
