As part of a community project three years ago, the pair started their own social enterprise called Find Your Fire, which they hoped would empower young people and encourage students to make changes in their communities. After Angie’s mum started telling her about family harm statistics, the friends decided to make this their first magazine topic.

The pair decided to create their own magazine, which they have called imPower. “None of my peers really knew about it and a lot of people we knew weren’t really educated about it – when we told some adults we wanted to work on this, they questioned us because it was a big issue, but we thought, ‘why be afraid to approach it?’”
