HINGHAM The philanthropic force is strong in Hingham. Star Wars fanatics AJ Spirito and Jamie Casagrande are using their successful podcast about George Lucas s iconic film franchise to raise money for those in need through the Peter Mayhew Foundation, the charity started by the late actor who played the wookie, Chewbacca.
The couple started their Star Wars blog in 2019 and in October 2020 amid the pandemic they launched a podcast, The HoloNet Marauders, where they talk about anything and everything Star Wars related. Spirito said it has since gained a loyal group of listeners.
Spirito said they decided to hold a fundraiser through GoFundMe during the month of May just in time for May 4, otherwise known as Star Wars Day, with a goal of $1,000. All money raised will be donated to the Peter Mayhew Foundation.
