Impilo Collection Foundation kicked off its first Reading Buddies distribution drive for 2021 on Friday the 14
th of May, donating a total of 208 books to learners at Takane Academy in Randburg and Nokhuphila Primary School in Midrand.
Caroline Libongani-Ngwenya, founder and principal of the home-schooling academy, Takane Academy, educates and feeds over 150 learners, in her former home that she gave up for the learners.
“A lot of our children come from homes where they are not fed properly let alone educated. Our mission is to ensure that all the children that walk through our doors are correctly taken care of and get a real chance at quality education,” Libongani-Ngwenya explained during the distribution drive.

Kidderminster Library. A NEW scheme has launched at Kidderminster Library called ‘Reading Friends’ which aims to tackle loneliness. The Worcestershire wide initiative is centred around three library services: the library service at home, online connect bubbles, and one-to-one telephone calls. As part of the library service at home a selection of books will be delivered to those who unable to access their local library. One to one telephone calls will continue from lockdown and online connect bubbles, which are small group sessions, will be run via Zoom by library staff and volunteers. Hannah Perrott, assistant director for communities, said: “Worcestershire libraries are providing opportunities for people of all ages to stay connected with others, building healthier and more resilient communities across the county.
