Southampton Town police arrested a 31-year-old Calverton man for DWI in Hampton Bays early Monday. Police received a report of a reckless, erratic driver shortly before 12:30 a.m. and located Brayden Krueger parked in the middle of Montauk Highway. He told police he was driving back from a 7-Eleven in East Quogue to his girlfriends house in Hampton Bays and was found to be intoxicated, police said. Mr. Krueger was charged with driving while intoxicated and one violation, according to police. • Police arrested a 33-year-old Riverhead woman for driving with 22 license suspensions early last Wednesday morning. According to police, Brittany Hughes was stopped for speeding on Peconic Avenue in Riverside when an officer discovered her license had 22 scoffs on seven dates.

After last proposal fizzled, a new bike share program wants to come to Riverhead A portion of the EPCAL bike path. Bike sharing could be coming to Riverhead Town through a company called Pedal Share, which made a presentation before the Town Board Thursday.  The town had planned to participate with Suffolk County on a bike sharing program called Zagster in 2020. But that company went out of business shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic struck. In the fall of 2020, the county had announced that Pedal Share would be taking over the county bike share program, though Riverhead was not initially part of that program then.

(Courtesy Photo) Update (5:15 p.m.): Riverhead Town police said the vehicle that crashed into a house Wednesday hit an embankment after leaving the roadway and became airborne before striking the house. Police said the driver appeared to suffer a medical event, which led him to lose control of the vehicle. The crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. and the 1993 Ford pickup caught fire with the occupants trapped inside “for a period of time” and they were extricated with assistance from the Riverhead Fire Department as the fire was extinguished.
