Arrowhead RSVP seeks volunteers. RSVP stands for Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and is under the AmeriCorps Seniors umbrella. RSVP is for those “55 and better” who want to serve and give back to their community. Since most volunteers are retired, they have the valuable commodities of not only time, but also a lifetime of experience and skills. In the Duluth area, Arrowhead RSVP partners with non-profits such as hospitals, Meals on Wheels, nursing homes, foods shelves, tourist sites and supports their mission through volunteerism. Woman dies in Aitkin County following DWI charge
Karen Maki died at Riverwood Health Care Center five days after being charged with third degree driving while intoxicated.

A 64-year-old woman died Sunday, April 4, just days after being charged with third-degree driving while intoxicated following an Aitkin County crash.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office responded at 11 a.m. March 30 to a report of a vehicle in the ditch in Beaver Township, southeast of McGregor.
The driver of the vehicle, Karen I. Maki, refused treatment from McGregor Ambulance staff. Maki exhibited signs of intoxication and emitted an odor of alcohol, the sheriff’s office reported. A preliminary breath test revealed an alcohol concentration level of 0.20%. Maki was subsequently arrested and transported to the Aitkin County Jail on charges of third-degree DWI.
Doris Lorraine Berg, 92 years of age, passed on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at home in Palisade MN with family by her side.
Doris was born October 20, 1928 in Cohasset, Minnesota to Albert and Agnes Curtiss. She was the oldest of three children and went to school in a one room school house in Cohasset until the 8th grade. She left school to work and help on the family farm.
Doris was married to Charles Burlison and had three children. She was later married to Nels Berg and had eight children. They moved to Hill City, MN where Doris raised her children until she moved to Palisade MN in 2007.
