With the FDA giving emergency use authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in children ages 12 and up, some local schools are preparing to vaccinate students with parental consent.
âWe really respect that this is a familyâs individual decision,â Mason City Schools spokesperson Tracey Carson said. âAnd so we just want to be a resource for families.â

CINCINNATI â At Monday night s Cincinnati Public School board meeting, superintendent Laura Mitchell announced her resignation.
âAs we leave the old shore mentioned quite a few times, the education during the pandemic, and pre-pandemic, we look to a new coast, new shore of opportunities, Mitchell said. Itâs time for a transition. Tonight Iâm announcing publicly that Iâm resigning as Superintendent of CPS.â
Mitchell s final day with the district will be June 11.
During her 27-year career with Cincinnati Public Schools, Mitchell spent the past four years as superintendent of the district.
