CINCINNATI â Cincinnati Public Schools will resume in-person learning five days per week for all schools at the end of March.
The return to in-person learning will start districtwide March 31, after CPS spring break. Walnut Hills High School, which has remained virtual throughout the pandemic even as the rest of the district used a blended learning model, would be phased in by grade level to learn new safety protocols.
Two Cincinnati Public Schools board members responded to an Enquirer report detailing text and email messages between board members during a Wednesday night meeting.
In one of the text threads, CPS board president Carolyn Jones said she had concerns about teachers hijacking an upcoming board meeting. The board discussed limiting public comment through text, and has since implemented time restrictions during public hearings.
CPS s lawyer says the board s communications were perfectly legal. But three local lawyers, including one who represents The Enquirer, say the communications violated Ohio s Open Meetings Act.
On Wednesday, Jones said the board is very committed to transparency.

The distance learning option on the table would have a child either attending school at the Cincinnati Digital Academy or distance learning through the online platform Schoology.
The other option is to have class in-person five days a week. The in-person option will require mask wearing and other COVID protocols, but social distancing may not be at the CDC recommendation of six feet in some cases. Superintendent Laura Mitchell called the situation a balancing act. The information and data is changing on a regular basis, Mitchell said. The thresholds are shifting on a regular basis as well. What we can do right now is to offer our families options and choices within our districts that will fit their needs.

COLUMBUS, Ohio â Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said he had a deal with school districts: The state would vaccinate K-12 teachers from COVID-19 if schools pledged to resume in-person learning in some form by March 1.
During an unexpected news conference Friday evening, DeWine said some districts are going back on the deal after teachers received their first doses, including Cincinnati Public Schools We learned this week that Walnut Hills High School will remain remote the entire year, DeWine said. That simply is not acceptable.
