U.S. Air Force will test the F-15EX Jet in Upcoming Exercise for Upgrades Our Bureau 1059

The U.S. Air Force said it will test first two of its newest jets, F-15EXs, in the Northern Edge 21 exercises scheduled to take place from May 3-14.
The purpose of the F-15EX’s participation in Northern Edge is to allow for immediate deep-end testing in a complex jamming environment to gather essential test data for what works and what needs improvement. This is critical to expose the F-15EX to this environment now to make changes early on and allow for an aggressive test and fielding timeline, the service said in a release today.

Eshkenazi explained the F-15EX is able to come to an exercise like Northern Edge and safely participate in an operationally complex and dynamic environment because it’s not an altogether new platform. Much of the initial testing typically required on a new platform was accomplished during flight tests of the other versions of the F-15. EGLIN AFB Well, that didn t take long, did it?
Just five weeks after the first F-15EX Eagle II fighter jet touched down at Eglin Air Force Base and less than two weeks after that F-15EX was officially unveiled to the public the second of the new fighter aircraft arrived at the base.
F-15EX 002 was flown to Eglin on Tuesday by Maj. Aaron Eshkenazi, F-15EX operational test pilot with the 85th Test and Evaluation Squadron (85th TES), part of the Eglin-headquartered 53rd Wing.
