THE ISSUE
An article by Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Jessica Calefati, published in Saturdayâs LNP | LancasterOnline, noted that all but a few state GOP lawmakers have been silent about COVID-19 vaccination, hampering efforts to persuade Republican holdouts to get vaccinated. Noted Calefati: âCommunications and public health experts say these skeptics need reassurance from the Republican elected officials they trust the most.â
âDo not buy into made-up dangers promulgated by anti-vaccination voices,â wrote Wesbury, a former LNP | LancasterOnline Editorial Board member who began his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service. âAsk your physician or other health care provider about any concerns you may have. Do not rely on people who promote unfounded theories.â
Pa. senators ask Gov. Wolf to lift COVID-19 restrictions at start of Memorial Day weekend PennLive.com 16 hrs ago Jan Murphy, pennlive.com
Nearly half of Pennsylvania’s state senators are urging Gov. Tom Wolf to lift his COVID-19 mitigation orders on businesses before Memorial Day.
In a letter to the governor, they asked for the restrictions to be lifted on Friday, May 28 - the Friday before Memorial Day. Currently, Wolf plans to remove the restrictions on Memorial Day, May 31.
Lawmakers argue removing the restrictions three days earlier would help the hospitality and tourism industries, which have been hurt badly by the pandemic.
Wolf Easing Restrictions 7:25 pm
The Wolf administration, in coordination with the COVID-19 Vaccine Joint Task Force, announced today that mitigation orders except masking will be lifted on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31 at 12:01 AM.
The current order requiring Pennsylvanians to wear masks will be lifted when 70% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated. Face coverings are required to be worn indoors and outdoors if you are away from your home. In accordance with the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance, fully vaccinated Pennsylvanians are not required to wear a mask during certain activities.
“We continue to make significant progress in the fight to stop the spread of COVID-19 and as more Pennsylvania adults get vaccinated and guidance from the CDC evolves, we can continue to move forward with our reopening efforts,” Department of Health Acting Secretary Alison Beam said.
