Ridgefield Police and RBSC Introduce Series on Sharing the Road Written by Ridgefield Police The Ridgefield Police Department (RPD) and the Ridgefield Bicycle Sport Club (RBSC) are introducing a series of tips on how to share our roads in a joyous, peaceful and most of all, safe manner.   This first installment provides some guidance on how to move through Town. The configuration of Main Street poses some unique challenges, and not being certain how to handle them could lead to frustration, annoyance and potential accidents; so here it goes.   For the cyclist, first and foremost for rules of the road, remember that bikes should be considered small, slow cars, subject to all traffic laws.

Ridgefield Police Announce Drug Take-Back Drive-Thru on Saturday, April 24

Written by Ridgefield Police The Ridgefield Police Department is reminding you of our participation in the prescription drug take-back initiative to promote the proper disposal of medications. Prescription drugs that languish in medicine cabinets create a public health and safety concern because they are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.   On Saturday, April 24th, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, potentially dangerous, unused and unwanted prescriptions and over-the-counter medications will be collected at the Ridgefield Police Department located at 76 East Ridge Road. The Drive-Thru TakeBack will be set up so that people wishing to dispose of medications will not have to exit their vehicles. This service is free and completely anonymous. All medications that are collected as part of this initiative are taken to an incineration facility by Officers of the Ridgefield Police Department for destruction.

Busy Fairfield County Roadway Closed After Woman Crashes Into Utility Pole, Police Say

Read / Add Comments A Fairfield County roadway remains closed after an area woman crashed into a utility pole in a single-vehicle crash. Isabella Gould, age 26, of Danbury, was injured following the crash at around 11 p.m., Thursday, April 1 on Main Street in Ridgefield, said Capt. Shawn Platt of the Ridgefield Police Department. Gould was traveling southbound when she crossed over the northbound lane striking a utility pole on the opposite side of the road causing it to break and fall into the roadway.  She was treated at the scene and transported to the Danbury Hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
