Written by Ridgefield Police   Please be mindful of the CT law (14-252a C.G.S.) that requires drivers to remove all snow and ice from their vehicles. Failure to do so may result in a possible fine.   The “Ice Missile” Legislation requires drivers to remove any threatening ice or snow from the hood, trunk, and roof of their car or face a $75 fine. If snow or ice is dislodged from a motor vehicle and causes personal injury or property damage they can face a $200 - $1000 fine.   So please help us by making sure your vehicles are well cleaned of snow and ice before taking to the roads. With the right precautions, we can all enjoy the weather, drive carefully and keep the roads safe for everyone!

Police identified the driver who was killed as Jose Miguel Guillen-Hernandez. The crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m., according to Ridgefield Police Capt. Shawn Platt. “The two vehicles collided head-on and both operators needed to be extricated from their vehicles,” Platt said. The driver of the other car, a 44-year-old Ridgefield woman, was transported to Danbury Hospital “for evaluation of their injuries,” he said.
