3 displaced by house fire; 2 pets killed Oakridger Oak Ridge Fire Department reportedly responded to a structure fire at a Loyola Lane house at 11:25 a.m. Saturday April 3.  Upon arrival at 11:29 a.m., the ORFD found heavy smoke and fire coming from the carport extending into the residence and a nearby car, a city email stated. The ORFD reportedly determined all occupants were outside the residence.  The fire was under control at 11:45 a.m., but the city reported “extensive damage throughout the residence.” The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the family.  Three people have been displaced as a result of the fire. No people were injured but two animals died, the city stated. The fire s cause remains under investigation and appears to be accidental, the city stated.

According to Riverhead Police, the crash took place at 6:14 a.m. at the intersection of Burman Boulevard and New York State Route 25, the entrance to Enterprise Park at Calverton. Leonor Parra-Nunez, 61, was driving north in a 1997 Nissa Maxima on Burman Blvd. and, despite having a red light, reportedly entered the intersection, where he was struck by Rolando Ajcuc-Chamale, 33, of Calverton, who was heading east in a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox SUV on Rt. 25, police said. Cops: Driver dies in early morning crash at EPCAL entrance

A 61-year-old Coram man died in a two-car crash early Thursday morning near the entrance to Enterprise Park at Calverton, according to Riverhead Town police. Police said Leonor Parra-Nunez was driving a Nissan Maxima north on Burman Boulevard and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Route 25. His vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox SUV driven by Rolando Ajcuc-Chamale, 33, of Calverton. The SUV was traveling east on Route 25, police said. Members of the Wading River Fire Department responded to extricate Mr. Parra-Nunez from the vehicle and he was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, police said.
