CALVERTON, NY — A Coram man died in a two-car crash in Calverton Thursday morning, police said.
According to Riverhead Police, the crash took place at 6:14 a.m. at the intersection of Burman Boulevard and New York State Route 25, the entrance to Enterprise Park at Calverton.
Leonor Parra-Nunez, 61, was driving north in a 1997 Nissa Maxima on Burman Blvd. and, despite having a red light, reportedly entered the intersection, where he was struck by Rolando Ajcuc-Chamale, 33, of Calverton, who was heading east in a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox SUV on Rt. 25, police said.

Authorities found the two heavily damaged vehicles, one in the intersection and one in the nearby wooded area. Parra-Nunez was extricated from his vehicle by members of the Wading River Fire Department, treated at the scene, and taken by members of Riverhead Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center with serious injuries; he later died, police said.
