Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse chosen as town manager of Provincetown ALEX MORSE HOLYOKE Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse has been chosen as Provincetown’s next town manager. “I look forward to accepting the position,” he said in an email Thursday evening. The Select Board in Provincetown met at 5 p.m. to discuss naming a new town manager to succeed Robin Craver, who left after six months in the position. The board voted 5-0 to move forward with contract negotiations with Morse, he said. “It would be an honor to take my experience and skills to a community that is a special place to me,” Morse said before the board met.

Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet: 2020 In Review

Alex Darus Among the issues that made the Banner headlines this year were the legal sale of marijuana to adults in Provincetown, the issues of racial justice, goodbyes to town administrators and more. Outer Cape joins national protest for racial justice The issue of racial justice came into the forefront in 2020 after the killing of George Floyd on May 25 by a Minneapolis police officer led to nationwide protests, which made their way to the tip of Cape Cod.  Black Lives Matter protests and marches were held in Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet. In Provincetown, more than 100 people drove west along Commercial Street to a vigil for victims of police brutality at MacMillan Pier. Black Lives Matter signs continue to be seen at homes and businesses. 

New League of Visionary Revolutionaries group in Provincetown questions town manager choice

Mary Ann Bragg PROVINCETOWN PLOVR, Provincetown League of Visionary Revolutionaries, an intersectional, intergenerational, queer and allied visionary collective of permanent, seasonal, and transient residents, has announced its formation.  The new group is planning a series of public conversations on racism in 2021, starting Jan. 13, according to its website at https://linktr.ee/plovr We are Black, white, queer, straight, trans, cis, Indigenous, domestic, foreign, disabled, rich, poor and everything in between, according to the announcement to the press. We believe the resignation of former Town Manager Robin Craver is an auspicious opportunity for positive change in our local government. Craver resigned from her job in July after six months. She had replaced former Town Manager David Panagore, who resigned in April 2019. Panagore was hired in 2015 following a nearly two-year search to replace former Town Manager Sharon Lynn, who resigned in December 2013.
