Casa Bonita owners plan to reopen restaurant by September

LAKEWOOD, Colo. â In less than five weeks, the owners of the iconic Casa Bonita, plan to reopen the restaurant. The beloved landmark is home to margaritas, sopaipillas and a live entertainment.
More than a year ago, the restaurant shut down.
âWe were closed down because the [Colorado] regulations did not permit the business to operate, and then it was during the closure that we sustained some infrastructure issues,â said Robert Wheaton, the CEO of Summit Family Restaurants business that owns Casa Bonita.
The goal is to re-open the restaurant by Sept. 1 or earlier.

Hollywood Reporter, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are actually attempting to buy Casa Bonita, the pink entertainment palace that was the focus of a classic 2003 episode of their Comedy Central show,
South Park and decades before that, a focus of their childhood obsessions when the two future filmmakers were growing up in Colorado.
“We want to buy Casa Bonita and treat it right. I feel like it was neglected even before the pandemic,” Parker told the
Reporter.
Fans of both
South Park and Casa Bonita have been suggesting for years that Parker and Stone would be the ideal owners of the giant eatertainment complex that opened at 6715 West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood back in 1974, but has seen tough times recently. Those suggestions have only gotten louder over the past sixteen months, since Casa Bonita closed its doors in March 2020.
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have thrown their hats into the ring to become the new owners of the Colorado landmark Casa Bonita, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Stone and Parker told the outlet Wednesday they wanted to buy the 47-year-old Lakewood restaurant known for its roaming mariachis, cliff divers, Black Bart s Haunted Cave and sopapillas. It s just sitting there. It sucks, Parker said of the iconic pink restaurant in a strip shopping center, according to the Hollywood Reporter. For a moment when it was like Casa Bonita is going to closed down, we said, We re going to go buy it. And I felt like it was the crowning achievement of my life.
