The Traffic Calming Ad Hoc Advisory Committee has been looking at various traffic-related issues in Milton, including large trucks. The committee sought to determine how and why large trucks are going through town, and where they are ending up.

(April 24, 2021) –  The Delaware Forest Service and its new “Tree Stewards” program led more than 50 volunteers and town officials to plant 160 trees in Milton, Sussex County on Saturday, April 24. The trees will enhance the town’s hiking and biking trail near West Shore Drive, part of the DelDOT’s  ongoing “Rails to Trails” project in Sussex County. Delaware’s urban and community forestry program funded the cost of the trees and provided technical assistance.

Colleagues remembered Cote as a jovial man who was deeply prepared and passionate about town issues. FILE PHOTO Ryan Mavity Milton Councilman Michael Coté passed away April 3, reportedly after suffering a stroke.  Coté, 72, was in his third term as a councilman, having first been elected in 2013. He purchased a home in Milton in 2008, moving to town full time in 2011. He began attending Milton Town Council meetings and grew concerned about accounting-related issues. Coté was a laid-back man with a scholarly salt-and-pepper beard and glasses, but very easy with a smile. Despite his easygoing personality, Coté took his work seriously. He retired to Milton after a career as a certified public accountant, corporate auditor and budget manager for large companies in New York. Milton council seeks more information on four-way stop proposal Milton Town Council has asked an ad-hoc committee for an advisory report on a plan for a four-way stop at the intersection of Atlantic and Chestnut streets. Milton Town Council has asked town officials to come up with more information on a proposal to install stop signs all four ways at the intersection of Chestnut and Atlantic streets. At its March 1 meeting, council unanimously voted to table the measure and seek an advisory report with recommendations from the Traffic Calming Ad Hoc Advisory Committee.

Councilwoman Randi Meredith, chair of the Traffic Calming Advisory Ad Hoc Committee, said the survey will also be sent out to rental property owners and will be found on the town website and at town council meetings.
