A fire broke out in an illegal oil depot near Jhumra Road in the district on Thursday. Four teams of Rescue 1122 officials arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
According to the police report, a fire broke out in an illegal depot which is set up at Jhula Lal Oil Parking Stand near Chak No 202 RB Gayi on Jhumra Road, area of Millat Town Police Station. However, no casualties were reported and the cause of the fire has not been ascertained. The flames engulfed the oil drums in the warehouse.

Kite flying has been a potential threat to human lives as many cases have been reported mostly in Punjab of kites with sharp metallic threads slitting throats of motorcyclists as well as pedestrians.
It has now emerged that these kites also get entangled in power transmission lines causing trippings and power outages.
A spokesman of National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) disclosed that a number of incidents of tripping at 500kV and 220kV transmission lines have been reported due to kite flying in areas of Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Gujranwala and Kasur.

Man ‘boils to death’ in factory accident
45-year-old worker fell into hot water pool while working at sugar mill

A chemical department employee of a sugar mill in Tandlianwala was killed after falling into a hot water pool during work on Friday.
Authorities handed over the body to his heirs after initial proceedings. Reportedly, 45-year-old Munir Ahmed, son of Abdullah, and a resident of Chak No 447GB, Sammundri, was an employee in the chemical department of a local sugar mill in Tandlianwala tehsil. During work, he fell into a hot water pool and died due to burn injuries. The mill management handed over the body of the deceased to the heirs. Causalities due to accidents owing to poor working environment and lack of safety measures have been reported frequently in the province.

LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the country is moving towards development and prosperity as the PTI government has taken several steps for public welfare.
In a statement, the chief minister said the government expenditures had been sufficiently curtailed by the incumbents. Those who bankrupted the country could not claim to be leaders, he stressed.
The CM reiterated that the direction and commitment of the government are in the right direction. He regretted that national resources were mercilessly wasted in the past in the garb of exhibitory projects. The PTI government has done away with the wrong tradition of wasting national resources because the government money is the sacred trust of the people, he added.
