The doubling rate of the district has improved after witnessing a fall around the festival season. The doubling rate is the number of days it takes for cases to double based on the last seven-day growth rate. As per the state media bulletin released by the health department on Saturday evening, the doubling rate for Ludhiana was 252. The data shows that Ludhiana’s doubling rate is the highest after November 10, when it was recorded at 204. A day after November 10, doubling rate for Ludhiana had dropped to 181 before falling further to 150 on December 2. After that, it increased gradually before reaching the present value.

The total positive cases in the district reached 24,379 and the death toll has gone up to 949. Now, there are 642 active cases in the district. On Sunday, 106 persons were sent for home quarantine. The person who lost his life today was a 78-year-old man, a resident of Barewala Awana. He was a patient of hypertension and was admitted to SPS Hospital. Out of the total persons who tested positive, 14 were contacts of positive people, 13 were referred from the OPDs, 22 were referred from the flu corner, while the tracing of eight was on.

LUDHIANA: Three residents died of Covid-19 and 55 tested positive on Wednesday. Chief medical officer Dr Rajesh Bagga said the district casualties included a 72-year-old man of Atam Nagar, who had a heart disease; a 60-year-old man of Basti Jodhewal; and a 79-year-old woman of Madhopuri with coronary artery disease. The district toll tally has increased to 942 and that of outsiders to 419. The CMO said on the day, 71 positive reports were received. Of these, 55 were Ludhiana residents and 16 outsiders. The district cases included six contacts of positive patients, two healthcare workers, 16 from OPD, 29 from flu corners and two through tracing process.

Ludhiana: Five residents of Ludhiana died of Covid-19 and 70 tested positive on Tuesday. According to the local media bulletin, the district casualties included a 40-year-old woman of Guru Nanak Nagar, Khanna, who had diabetes, hypertension and bronchial asthma; a 76-year-old man of Sidhwan Bet; a 63-year-old man of Rajguru Nagar, who had diabetes and chronic kidney and artery disease; a 49-year-old woman of Dugri with bronchial asthma and hypertension; and a 60-year-old man of Cheema Chowk. The day also saw five outsiders succumbing to the disease and 18 testing positive here. Civil surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga said the Ludhiana toll tally was 939 and that of outsiders 417.

Ludhiana: Even as no death of a Ludhianvi due to Covid-19 was reported, 65 residents tested positive on Monday. However, two patients from outside the district succumbed to the disease and nine outsiders were confirmed to have contracted the virus here on the day. Civil surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga said the Ludhiana fatality figure stood at 934 and that of outsiders at 412. To date, 4,98,719 persons have been tested. Of the 65 new cases, 30 were from flu corner (influenza-like illness patients), 10 positive cases’ contacts, 21 from OPD, two through tracing process and two severe acute respiratory infection cases. The local health department officials said the Ludhiana case count was 24,007 and that of outsiders 3,494.
