Ludhiana: The kingpins of the fake call centres which duped foreign nationals and were busted last week in Ludhiana and Mohali were earlier agents of a man who ran a similar centre near Cheema Chowk in 2018. After learning the techniques from there, the accused started their own con job. Besides, the police have also started the process to freeze bitcoins they purchased with the swindled money. Woman, 4 others booked for manhandling cop | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: A group of five persons, including a woman, have allegedly manhandled a cop minutes after they were served summons for joining investigation in a case of attempt to murder lodged against the woman and her accomplice. The Moti Nagar police have lodged an FIR against Indu Bala of New Shastri Nagar, her father Krishan Lal and brother Manoj Kumar and their two unidentified accomplices. ASI Harnek Singh, who is deputed at police station, Dehlon, stated that a case of attempt to murder was lodged against Indu, her accomplice Rishav Benipal and other accused on the complaint of Sushil Kumar of Ishar Nagar on March 2, 2019. On January 23, he, along with ASI Harbans Singh and constable Harpreet Singh and complainant Sushil Kumar, had gone to serve the summons at the house of the accused.

Covid-19 snuffs out 5 lives, leaves 70 infected in dist | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: Five residents of Ludhiana died of Covid-19 and 70 tested positive on Tuesday. According to the local media bulletin, the district casualties included a 40-year-old woman of Guru Nanak Nagar, Khanna, who had diabetes, hypertension and bronchial asthma; a 76-year-old man of Sidhwan Bet; a 63-year-old man of Rajguru Nagar, who had diabetes and chronic kidney and artery disease; a 49-year-old woman of Dugri with bronchial asthma and hypertension; and a 60-year-old man of Cheema Chowk. The day also saw five outsiders succumbing to the disease and 18 testing positive here. Civil surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga said the Ludhiana toll tally was 939 and that of outsiders 417.

Tribune News Service Ludhiana, December 15 Five persons fell prey to coronavirus, while 70 tested positive for it in the district today. The total confirmed positive cases in the district have now gone to 24,077, while the death toll has mounted to 939. The active cases in the district at present are 640 and 2,484 are active home quarantined. Today, 157 people were sent for home quarantine. Those who lost their lives today included two women aged 40 and 49, belonging to Guru Nanak Nagar, Khanna, and Dugri, respectively. Both had the co-morbidity of asthma and hypertension. Three men who lost their lives today were aged 60, 63 and 76 and belonged to Cheema Chowk, Rajguru Nagar and Sidhwan Bet village, respectively.
