Twentynine fresh cases of Covid were reported in Ludhiana district on Thursday. A 53-year-old man from the Punjabi Bagh area of Ludhiana, who was admitted to the Civil Hospital here, lost his life to the virus.
The Health Department today confirmed 50 cases, including 29 from Ludhiana and 21 from other districts or states. In Ludhiana district, five patients came in contact of positive patients, eight visited OPDs, 13 with influenza-like illness visited the Flu corner. Besides, three patients, including a health care worker, tested positive for the virus.

A woman fell prey to Covid, while 30 persons tested positive for it in the district today. With this, the total number of positive patients in the district has gone up to 24,486 and the number of fatalities has reached 953.
Today, 2,436 RTPCR samples were sent for testing to a laboratory.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga said out of the pending reports of the suspected patients, 45 had been confirmed cases of Covid and out of these, 15 were related to other districts or states.
Three deaths were reported from the virus, with one from Ludhiana and one each from Hoshiarpur district and Jammu.

One person lost his life to coronavirus, while 57 tested positive for it in Ludhiana district today.
The total positive cases in the district reached 24,379 and the death toll has gone up to 949. Now, there are 642 active cases in the district. On Sunday, 106 persons were sent for home quarantine.
The person who lost his life today was a 78-year-old man, a resident of Barewala Awana. He was a patient of hypertension and was admitted to SPS Hospital.
Out of the total persons who tested positive, 14 were contacts of positive people, 13 were referred from the OPDs, 22 were referred from the flu corner, while the tracing of eight was on.

Three persons lost their life to Covid, while 62 persons tested positive for it in Ludhiana district today, taking the death toll in the district to 926.
Those who lost their lives today included three men aged between 40 and 77. Two of them were admitted to Fortis Hospital, while one was admitted to Christian Medical College and Hospital. Out of the total people who tested positive, 33 were referred from flu corners, five each were contacts of positive persons and were referred from OPDs. Seven under-trials also tested positive, while the tracing of 10 was under progress.
Meanwhile, to formulate a strategy to conduct the first-of-its-kind massive Covid vaccination programme, the district administration has set up a 16-member district taskforce (DTF) for coronavirus vaccine committee headed by Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma.
