Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel is in the news again. The Chairman of Jungle Lodges and Resorts (JLR), in his news briefing, wanted to have a Centenary celebration of the building which was commissioned in 1921 by our then Maharaja for the stay of Viceroy which never materialised. Excellent news.
There is a lot of confusion on the land size of the Palace. I had got the land officially measured by a professional and it was about 40 acres and 24 guntas. Apart from this, the State Government in its wisdom had transferred some land to the Tourism Department around this property. Originally there was a mango orchard which was a part of this property but since there was water shortage from inception, the orchard was transferred to the Horticulture Department.

Amid farmer protests, Diljit Dosanjh roped in for Ali Abbas Zafar s film on 1984 anti-Sikh riot?
Diljit, who was born in the same year is being considered for a period drama with Ali as the creator.
Popular singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, who headlined recently for extending his support to the ongoing farmer protests and his publicised Twitter war with actress Kangana Ranaut, is now reportedly being cast for Ali Abbas Zafar s film on 1984 Anti-Sikh riot.
Diljit, who was born in the same year is being considered for a period drama with Ali as the creator.
According to a report by Mid-Day, the makers plan to roll out the film next week.
DDC Members Administered Oath Across JK
SRINAGAR: The elected members of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections held in the history of Jammu and Kashmir were on Monday administered oath by respective district heads across all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion, 138 DDC members representing 138 Block Constituencies of 10 districts of the division swore in the name of God and pledged to bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution of India and also uphold the Sovereignty of India.
AT SRINAGAR: The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today administered oath to the recently elected members of District Development Council (DDC) of Srinagar, who registered their victory in the first DDC election held in Jammu & Kashmir.
